Ziereisen Jaspis Syrah 2020
NEU

"Cote-Rotie in Südbaden"

Das sagen die Ziereisens zu ihrem Jaspis Syrah Däublin 2020. "Tiefdunkles Kirschrot, gewaltige, präsente Aromatik. Kardamon, Provencekräuter, Pfeffer, Speck, viel schwarzbeerige Frucht.

From 23-year-old vines planted in very high density on Jurassic chalk, Ziereisen's unfiltered 2020 Jaspis Syrah Däublin exhibits a dark and intense red color and opens on the nose with a deep, pure, fresh and intense, perfectly ripe black berry aroma intertwined with notes of smoked bacon, black pepper and even olives yet also the refreshing features of the limestone soils around Efringen-Kirchen. Lush and dense yet also silky and fresh on the palate, this is a full-bodied and concentrated yet pure, fine and vibrant Syrah with very fine tannins and a spicy, licorice-scented, peppery and uplifted finish. The elegant and fine tannins are perfectly interwoven with the delicate and saline acidity. This is an impressive Syrah that is most probably the finest I have tasted here, if not in all Germany, in about 20 years. World class. 13% stated alcohol. Premium natural cork stopper. Tasted in November 2022.

Standish 2020 Lamella Shiraz Barossa Valley

Geballte Kraft und unergründliche Tiefe. Was für ein Wein.

98 Sucklingpunkte für den The Standish 2020 Lamella ShirazJames Suckling im Oktober 2022 zum The Standish 2020 Lamella Shiraz

The Eden Valley fruit gives a unique cool fruit character of blue fruits, iron and white pepper. Granite. Medium to full body, with tight and integrated skin tannins and a gunpowder undertone. Fantastic length. A little closed now. Drink after 2025.

97+ Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den The Standish 2020 Lamella ShirazErin Larkin verkostet und bewertet im Mai 2022:

The 2020 Lamella Shiraz was made with fruit from the Angas family vineyard in the Eden Valley (Hutton Vale Farm), with cuttings from the Mt. Edelstone vineyard, which is close by. It is made with 100% whole bunches in the ferment. "This is the last pick, and by that time the stems have fully lignified," said Dan Standish. It is floral, and granitic and minerally and über spicy all at once. It is the elegant wine of the lineup, thanks to the elevated vineyard and the cooling acid, but it also is possessed of a nuance and range of flavor that makes it distinct from the others. The Lamella has the breadth and range that the other two do not (making it neither better nor worse, just an observation), and it covers a lot of ground within that. It is shaley, and rocky and mineral, but it is also slightly herbal (there is fresh coriander and a hint of bay in there); the fruit is concentrated and pure and also has a splay of spice through the finish—licorice, star anise and a shake of allspice. Zoom out, and the wine has volumes of flavor and pillowy texture—it really does have it all. Due to the vintage conditions, I expected to be met by a dense wall of unforgiving flavor and tannin. Instead, it is possessed of a galaxy of flavor, pintucked into folds of texture and all of it spooling out over an interminable finish.

Ziereisen Gestad Syrah 2020
NEU
92
"Syrah für Pinot-Liebhaber. Elegant, kühl, schlank, erinnert an Nordrhone-Syrah"

Ziereisen's 2020 Syrah Gestad shows a clear and polished dark cherry color and corresponding elegant and refined cherry and dark berry fruit on the nose that intermingles spicy, floral and herbal notes. It's very delicate and with pure, ripe yet fresh fruit aromas. Silky, round and lush on the palate, with very fine tannins and a stimulating saline, mineral freshness, this is a medium-bodied, very elegant and balanced Syrah whose finish is clear, fresh and cleansing but also aromatic, now with refreshing raspberry and red cherry aromas. This is from younger vines and irresistible in its fruits. It was aged in new barriques for 20 months. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork stopper. Tasted from L 16 22 in November 2022.

This blend of 74% zinfandel, 15% petite sirah, 9% carignane and 2% mataro has that signature Ridge freshness and definition with such reliable focus on fruit. Aromas of dried plums, dry roasted spices, red flowers and leaves lead to a palate that has such succulent, rich red berries and plums. So lively and attractive. Drink or hold.

92 Parker Punkte für L'Aventure Optimus Estate 2016 Paso RoblesWilliam Kelley bewertet den Optimus 2016 im Mai 2018 wie folgt:

A blend of 50% Syrah. 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Petit Verdot that checks in at 15.4% alcoho,. the 2016 Optimus reveals a lavish bouquet of crunchy berries, anise and creamy new oak. On the palate, it's full-bodied. spicy and richly tannic, with generous, oak-influenced flavors and a crunchy core of fruit. The finish is long and youthfully chewy. Bottled barely one month before I tasted it, this is already quite expressive and should begin to drink well after just a few years. The Optimus is Asseo's longest-running cuvée, realizing an ambition to blend Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon he nurtured in his native Bordeaux.

93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für denim September im 2018:

Brilliant violet. Ripe dark berries, licorice, woodsmoke and candied violet on the deeply perfumed, spice-accented nose. Concentrated but lively as well, offering intense blackberry, cassis, cola and spicecake flavors that show impressive delineation and back-end lift. A very long, sappy finish features slow-building tannins, a hint of mocha and lingering smokiness. Drink 2024 – 2033.

L'Aventure Optimus Estate 2016 Paso Robles 94 Punkte von Jeb DunnuckJeb Dunnuck im November 2018:

Moving to the wines from bottle and starting with the 2016 Optimus, which is always a great introduction into the wines of this estate, it’s a blend of 50% Syrah. 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Petit Verdot that spent 14 months in 60% new barrels. This full-bodied, rich yet also elegant and lively red gives up a big, sweet nose of crème de cassis, toasted spice, licorice, and graphite. With good acidity and impressive finesse and elegance as well as richness, it’s a no-brainer purchase to drink over the coming 7-8 years.

Bottled since May, the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is sourced from sandy soils. Notes of oranges and melon fill out the full-bodied palate, which is round but still admirably fresh and clean on the finish.

Tasca D Almerita Didyme Malvasia Tenuta Capofaro 2021
91

A medium-bodied white with aromas of juniper berries, star fruit, guava and lemon blossom. Fruity, with tangy and lemony acidity. Subtly salty and spicy, too. Delicious now.
