The 2019 Domaine de Chevalier is a magical wine in the making, wafting from the glass with aromas of wild plums, crushed blackcurrants and violets mingled with hints of pencil shavings, subtle spices and coniferous forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, deep and seamless, with a vibrant core of fruit, beautifully refined tannins and lively acids, it's exquisitely elegant and harmonious, concluding with a long, perfumed finish. Stylistically, this wine exhibits a much closer affinity with the great Domaine de Chevalier of yesteryear than much of what was produced here in the early 2000s. It's a masterclass in what contemporary Bordeaux can deliver, and worth a special effort to seek out.

97 Suckling Punkte für den Domaine de Chevalier 2019 rouge Pessac LeognanJames Suckling über den Domaine de Chevalier 2019 rouge Pessac Leognan:
3 Feb, 2022 – Beautiful, ripe redcurrants, bay leaf, violets and raspberries on the nose. Full-bodied with firm and very tight tannins that are polished and layered. Crushed stones highlight the beautiful blue fruit. Poised and refined. 60% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot, 6% petit verdot and 4% cabernet franc. Try after 2026.

97 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Domaine de Chevalier 2019 rouge Pessac LeognanAntonio Galloni (Vinous) bewertet den Domaine de Chevalier 2019 rouge Pessac Leognan:
The 2019 Domaine de Chevalier is pure, silky and exceptionally beautiful. The 2019 is all in reserve today. Sweet red berry fruit, mint, spice and blood orange lend brilliance to this understated, super-classy Pessac-Léognan red. Lifted floral aromatics and silky tannins grace this exquisite, wonderfully polished wine. Tasted two times.

95 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Domaine de Chevalier 2019 rouge Pessac LeognanUnd Neal Martin (Vinous) zum Domaine de Chevalier 2019 rouge Pessac Leognan:
The 2019 Domaine de Chevalier remains a little reticent on the nose at first and takes time to unfurl in the glass (often a good sign, in my book), revealing black fruit, crushed rock, undergrowth and just a touch of brine, perhaps less than in bottle. The palate is medium-bodied, poised and harmonious, with fine-grained tannins, wonderful mineralité and a gentle build toward the saline finish. It gains weight and cohesion with aeration. A noble Domaine de Chevalier that will age with style.

94 Punkte vom Wine Spectator für den Domaine de Chevalier 2019 rouge Pessac LeognanFür den Wine Spectator verköstigte James Molesworth denDomaine de Chevalier 2019 rouge Pessac Leognan:
Very lush and forward, with a lovely wave of warmed plum reduction, cassis and blackberry preserve flavors. Features a subtle rumble of dark earth and warm stone through the finish, where licorice and apple wood accents also peek in. Delivers spine for form, but this is going to provide its best showing in the medium-term, as the fruit is so precocious. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2023 through 2035. 10,000 cases made.

Elegant, frische Kirschen, lebendige Struktur, gut integrierte reife Tannine, mineralisch und frisch, bereits zugänglich, sehr gute Länge, verfügt über Entwicklungspotenzial.

The 2020 Domaine de Chevalier is a touch more tightly wound than the brilliant 2019 out of the gates, but it seems likely to equal that vintage with a bit of time. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of minty blackberries and cassis mingled with notions of burning embers, spices, rose petals and orange rind, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and concentrated, with a deep core of fruit, powdery structuring tannins and a long, saline finish. As I wrote last year, this estate in recent vintages has arrived at a sort of stylistic contemporary classicism that evokes the great wines of yesteryear from this address, and the 2020 continues that trend.

Lots of blackcurrant, black cherry, lead pencil, ink, bark and black truffle on the nose. Full-bodied and very fine textured with silky tannins that are so layered and gorgeous. Fantastic length and depth. Clarity and transparency. 55% cabernet sauvignon, 35% merlot, 5% petit verdot, and 5% cabernet franc. Best after 2029.

The Grand Vin 2020 Domaine De Chevalier ratchets everything up another notch and will be one of the legendary wines from this address. Notes of pure cassis, graphite, lead pencil, and scorched earth define its incredible aromatics, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannins, no hard edges, and a great, great finish. This is pure, classic, regal Pessac-Léognan is as good as anything in the vintage. Give bottles 4-6 years and it will evolve for 50, 60, 70+ years. I absolutely love this wine. The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, and the rest Cabernet Franc.

Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dunkler Kern, zarte Randaufhellung.

Well-built, pulling ample and weighty waves of cassis, plum reduction and blackberry preserves along, atop a broad spine of warm loam, smoldering tobacco and singed alder. Long and deep through the fine-grained finish, with a warm paving stone note that won't quit, thanks to well-buried acidity—not an easy feat in this vintage. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2028 through 2038. –JM

Die Degustationsnotiz des Wine Advocate zum Domaine de Chevalier blanc 2020 Pessac Leognan :

The 2020 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc bursts with notions of ripe yellow apples, juicy pears and lime blossoms, plus hints of blanched almonds, yuzu zest and wet pebbles. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers impactful apple and citrus flavors with a racy backbone and seductive oiliness to the texture, finishing long and minerally.

96-97 Suckling-Punkte für den Domaine de Chevalier 2020
James Suckling schreibt zum Domaine de Chevalier blanc 2020 Pessac Leognan Folgendes:

A dense, creamy DC white with lots of rich cooked-apple, mineral, cream and praline character. It’s full and very layered with chewy intensity and a long, bitter-lemon and almost honey finish. Pretty phenolic tension, too.

The 2020 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc was cropped at 43hl/ha and will spend 18 months in barrel. It has a very composed bouquet of green apple, kiwi fruit, crushed rock and dried white flower aromas. There is nothing extravagant on the nose, but it is beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine bead of acidity, displaying light honeyed notes on the entry mixed with chamomile and almond and hints of marzipan. Very harmonious from start to finish, this is a refined and classy Domaine de Chevalier Blanc.

93-96 Parker Punkte im Wineadvocate für den Domaine de Chevalier blanc 2022 Pessac Leognan Den Domaine de Chevalier blanc 2022 Pessac Leognan beschreibt William Kelley wie folgt:
The 2022 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc offers up aromas of pear, nectarine, crushed mint jasmine and lemon, followed by a medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated palate with a mineral-driven profile. It's lively and bright, with a delicate, penetrating finish animated by racy acids. This blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Sémillon, matured entirely in large wooden foudres and 500-liter barrels instead of the traditional barriques, is one of the finest white wines of the vintage, and one of the few that transcends its limitations.

The 2022 Domaine De Chevalier Blanc brings more dimensions and layers, as well as richness. Based on 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Sémillon, aging in 40% new oak, it has a beautiful perfume of honeyed citrus, subtle tropical flowers, and chalky, minerality nuances. This carries to a medium to full-bodied white with plenty of density and depth, nicely integrated acidity, and a gorgeous finish. I wouldn't be surprised to see this end up in the top handful of whites in the vintage.

Squeeze grapefruits over crushed rocks, and you get the idea of the perfume. The palate is packed with all the sweet, juicy, ripe pineapples, Granny Smith apples, tangerine skins, pomelo, and honeysuckle you could ask for. The wine provides the perfect blend of fresh, juicy citrus, sweetness, lift and creaminess. Drink this young for its youthful exuberance, or age it a few years for more secondary development. The wine blends 70% Sauvignon Blanc with 30% Semillon, 13.8% ABV, 3.28 pH. The harvest took place August 26 - September 5. Drink from 2025-2037.

Round, full, compelling, charming and confident, this has a width and density that is really well worked, calm, not super vibrant but really rich in terms of fruit expression with coolness, white stone fruit flavours and some subtle toasting. Feels structured and well worked, serious but not as tense as many with more fruit persistence and depth than a lot of the whites this year. Perhaps missing a touch of acidity bit this is very good indeed and ends with a zestiness that is really appealing. Tasted twice. Derenoncourt consultants.

Tangy and forward, nice and bright with citrus fruits, lemon rind, orange juice and grapefruit pith.
