97 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Leoville Barton 2019 Saint JulienWilliam Kelley im April 2022:

Like its stablemate Langoa Barton, the 2019 Léoville Barton is a timeless classic, made for patient connoisseurs. Offering up aromas of blackcurrants, plums, pencil shavings and licorice, it's full-bodied, deep and concentrated, its deep core of fruit framed by a chassis of rich, powdery tannin that makes itself felt on the youthfully firm finish. While it's clearly built for the long haul, its structural seamlessness and mid-palate plenitude mark it out as one of the finest wines from this château in recent times. Could it be a more concentrated modern-day version of Anthony Barton's brilliant 1985?

97 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck für den Jeb Dunnuck im April 2022:

The flagship 2019 Château Léoville Barton is brilliant, showing both the style of the estate as well as the vintage beautifully. It's never the biggest or richest wine, yet it has a classic, vibrant, structured style that ages beautifully. Pure cassis, black currants, scorched earth, new leather, and graphite are just some of its nuances, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a lively spine of acidity, beautiful overall balance, and a great finish. This textbook Léoville Barton demands a decade of bottle age and will keep for 30-40 years.

96 Suckling Punkte für den Chateau Leoville Barton 2019 Saint JulienJames Suckling über den Chateau Leoville Barton 2019 Saint Julien:

Currants, sweet fruit and fresh flowers on the nose. Medium-to full-bodied with firm, silky tannins that are chewy and powerful. Long and muscular, yet in a toned and polished way. Try after 2026.

96 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Leoville Barton 2019 Saint JulienAntonio Galloni (Vinous) bewertet den Chateau Leoville Barton 2019 Saint Julien:

The 2019 Léoville Barton is so impressive. Rich and heady in the glass, the 2019 offers up a beguiling mix of dark fruit intermingled with scents to tobacco, gravel, pencil shavings, leather, licorice, scorched earth and cloves. Today, Léoville Barton is decidedly virile, imposing and in need of cellaring. It is also hugely impressive. Léoville Barton is one of the first Bordeaux I tasted, many years ago. It remains a favorite for its combination of quality, personality and fair price, all values the late Anthony Barton championed during his long and distinguished career.

95 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Leoville Barton 2019 Saint JulienUnd Neal Martin (Vinous) zum Chateau Leoville Barton 2019 Saint Julien:

The 2019 Léoville Barton has a gorgeous bouquet, very delineated and quite mineral-driven, offering blackberry and briary scents, a whiff of freshly rolled tobacco and a hint of orange rind. The beautifully balanced palate features sappy black fruit and fine acidity, quite gentle at first but developing wonderful poise and weight toward the finish. I adore the way this grows in the glass but retains an appealing spiciness on the aftertaste. Superb. A testament to the late, great Anthony Barton. 13.88% alcohol

A strapping young wine, offering notes of blackberry paste, plum preserves and black currant coulis that show energy throughout, with plentiful bramble, tar and licorice root accents. There’s a mouthwatering echo of apple wood at the very end, with a flash of violet adding a hint of purity. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2025 through 2042. 11,850 cases made.

Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarter Ockerrand.

The 2019 Beychevelle presents a perfumed nose of blackberry, wilted rose petals, incense and a touch of violet that ebbs with aeration. Elegant, poised and focused, this is a succinct and quite complex Saint-Julien. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and wonderful depth, still retaining the discreet marine influence but showing a little more depth and rondeur on the persistent finish. This is a delicious Beychevelle. 13.7° alcohol

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Léoville Barton needs a little swirling to coax out delicate notions of fresh blackberries, mulberries and cassis, plus touches of pencil shavings, clove oil, charcoal and black truffles. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers a great intensity of earth and mineral-laced black fruit flavors, supported by firm, ripe, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing on a lingering ferrous note. Give it a good 4-5 years in bottle and drink it over the next 20 years+.

96 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Leoville Barton 2018 Saint JulienAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Leoville Barton 2018 Saint Julien wie folgt:

The 2018 Léoville-Barton is a gorgeous, exotic wine. Crème de cassis, lavender, menthol, licorice and cloves race out of the glass. The 2018 marries the natural opulence of the year with a pretty classic sense of structure, making for one of the more compelling wines of the year. I would give this a good decade in the cellar. There is much to look forward to. I especially admire the energy and poise here.

Cassis, crushed plum and steeped blackberry fruit is all packed into this wine, along with tar, violet and roasted apple wood notes, plus a terrific tug of warm earth. 97 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck für den Chateau Leoville Barton 2018 Saint JulienJeb Dunnuck:

This estate has been on fire in recent vintages, and the 2018 Château Léoville Barton is up there with the best of them. Based on 82% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Merlot that was brought up in 60% new French oak, this classic, flawlessly balanced, straight-up awesome Saint-Julien has loads of cassis and mulberry fruits as well as notes of freshly sharpened pencils, leafy tobacco, chocolate, and earth. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and concentrated on the palate, it has building tannins and healthy acidity, yet the fruit is pure, perfectly ripe, and wonderfully integrated with all the wine's components. As is normal with this cuvée, it closes down with extended air and is going to take a solid 8-10 years of bottle age to reach the early stages of maturity. It's going to evolve for 30-40 years in cold cellars.

Full-bodied and absolutely laden with black fruits and provocative mineral sparks. it has a firm texture of grainy tannins and plenty of freshness. finishing long and savory. A powerful. virile wine. the 2018 Saint-Pierre is also one of the highlights of the vintage. Black cherry. graphite. smoke. leather. menthol. violet and spice meld together in a brooding. tannic Saint-Julien that is going to need a bit of time to truly come into its own. Saint-Pierre is muscular. massively tannic and forbidding. and yet there is a ton of fruit behind all of that structure. Cabernet Sauvignon features heavily in the blend. and that comes through in the wine's flavor profile and overall feel. Readers will have to be patient. I can't wait to taste it from bottle. The 2018 is 77% Cabernet Sauvignon and 23% Merlot. Tasted four times.

A blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc, aged in 80% new oak barriques, the 2018 Léoville Poyferré comes bounding out of the glass with exuberant scents of Morello cherries, plum preserves and blackberry pie, giving way to nuances of cedar chest, unsmoked cigars, vanilla pod and sassafras, plus a waft of crushed rocks. The palate is full-bodied, rich and decadent, delivering hedonic black fruits and lots of spicy accents with a velvety texture and seamless freshness, finishing long and satisfyingly savory. This is a very impressive showing that is delicious out of the gate but has the backbone to give a good 30 years or more of pleasure.

Léoville-Poyferré is sensational in 2018. There's not much more to say than that. A wine of explosive power and intensity, the 2018 dazzles from start to finish. To be sure, the 2018 is racy and opulent, but all the elements come together so effortlessly. Bright red-toned fruit, mocha, pine and wild flowers all open with a bit of coaxing. The new oak is a bit prominent at this stage, but that will be less of an issue over time.

Platz 7 der Top 100 Weine in 2021

Waves of warmed cassis, mocha and warm tar aromas lead the way, while the core of macerated plum, blackberry and blueberry fruit waits its turn, showing admirable breadth and depth when it arrives, with roasted apple wood, bramble and cast iron buried deeply through the finish. This is a powerfully rendered wine with a cashmere scarf as accent. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2024 through 2040. 15,000 cases made. Chateau Leoville Poyferre 2018 Saint Julien ausgezeichnet mit 100 Punkten von Jeb DunnuckJeb Dunnuck im März 2021:

Every bit as good as the 2009, and I think better than the 2010 and 2016, the 2018 Château Léoville Poyferré is a total thrill that tops out my scale. Based on 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, its dense purple hue is followed by an incredible, full-bodied monster of a wine that, despite massive amounts of fruit, tannins, and extract, still stays weightless and ethereal, with incredible purity. Loaded with notions of crème de cassis, spring flowers, tobacco, violets, charcoal, and cedar pencil, it's extraordinarily concentrated, flawlessly balanced, and has a finish that won't quit. This is a legendary wine in the making. Give bottles 7-8 years, a decade would be even better, and it will keep for 40-50 years. Hats off to the Cuvelier family for another extraordinary wine!

The 2019 Lagrange has turned out beautifully in bottle, wafting from the glass with aromas of cherries, blackberries and cassis mingled with hints of loamy soil, pencil shavings and bay leaf. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, with an ample core of lively fruit, powdery tannins and succulent acids, it's suave and seamless, concluding with a long, expansive finish. The result of an extremely rigorous selection, and incorporating fully 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, this is the finest wine this château has produced in the modern era. Remarkably, it was released at the same price en primeur as the 2005!

A deep, fleshy Saint-Julien, the 2019 Lagrange builds beautifully with time in the glass. Sweet red/purplish berry fruit, rose petal, sage, mint, lavender and cinnamon are finely delineated, and yet this mid-weight Saint-Julien impresses with its super finessed personality. While I don't think the 2019 Château Lagrange matches the 2018, it's not far off, with a more elegant yet still concentrated style. Beautiful crème de cassis, spicy oak, tobacco, chocolate, and new saddle leather notes all emerge on the nose, and it stays tight, compact, and focused on the palate, with plenty of firm tannins. It opens up beautifully with time in the glass but merits 4-6 years of bottle age, and it should evolve for 20-25 years or more.

The 2019 Léoville Las Cases is a brilliant young wine that will delight Bordeaux purists. Unwinding in the glass with scents of cassis, dark berries, cigar wrapper and pencil shavings, it’s full-bodied, layered and tightly wound, with a deep core of fruit, lively acids and an abundance of rich, powdery tannins. Concentrated and serious, much like its immediate neighbor Château Latour, it is likely to emerge as one of the vintage’s longest lived—and greatest—wines.

Just as it was from barrel, the 2019 Léoville Las-Cases is a wine of pure and total sophistication. There is not the size of some recent vintages, but instead that heft is replaced by cool refinement. The expression of fruit leans into the redder end of the spectrum as opposed to the typically darker Las-Cases profile. Hints of cedar, tobacco, mint and blood orange linger. I can't wait to see how it ages.

he 2019 Léoville–Las Cases, bottled July 2021, retains the energetic, vivacious bouquet that I noticed last year from the barrel sample, offering intense blackberry, bilberry and still those faint shucked oyster shell scents in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with wonderful detail and precision, a mixture of black and blue fruit and enthralling clarity and length. Perhaps there is a little more creaminess in terms of texture toward the finish, a bit of "baby fat" that will be subsumed with time, so give this 8–10 years in bottle if you want to taste it in full flight. [Returning after 15 or 20 minutes, I discerned more pepperiness on the finish, and perhaps also less creaminess and more structure.] 14.02% alcohol.

Remarkably sleek and pure, considering the generally burly and obvious tannic profile of the vintage. Delivers a pure and unadulterated beam of cassis and plum reduction flavors inlaid seamlessly with a glistening iron girder that seems to have no end point through the finish, where violet, anise and black tea notes shimmer. Reserved overall, with a beautiful austerity, this is an example of how great terroir always shines through—even in extreme years. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. 95-98 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou 2018 Saint JulienAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou 2018 Saint Julien wie folgt:

The 2018 Ducru-Beaucaillou is a wine of pure and total sensual beauty. Layers of intense fruit nearly cover the massive tannins that lurk beneath. Sweet floral notes. spice. mint. lavender and rose petals all grace a sublime Ducru that is long on class and character. In most recent vintages. Ducru has been a tannic behemoth. but the 2018 is remarkably silky. sumptuous and nuanced. In 2018. Ducru is not an obvious wine. but it is exceptionally beautiful. The 2018 is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot. New oak is 100%. Tasted two times.

This is so layered and beautiful with incredible tannin quality. Full-bodied with a caressing texture that reminds me of the finest cashmere. So layered. You want to swallow this. Brings a smile to the face. Wow. So well crafted.

96-99 Punkte vom Wine Spectator für den Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou 2018 Saint JulienJames Mothels bewertet den Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou 2018 Saint Julien wie folgt:
Another rock 'em sock 'em St.-Julien here. brimming with nearly exotic blackberry. plum. blueberry and açaí berry reduction notes. bristling with brambly energy and racing through a graphite-edged finish. Shows gorgeous perfume throughout. despite the fairly obvious level of concentration.

A very tight and toned red with blueberry and blackcurrant aromas and flavors. Full-bodied. closed down and very long. Solid.

Very fresh and pure. with plum and cassis notes that are vivid and focused. Light graphite and anise accents line the finish. Solid.

94-96 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Saint Pierre 2018 Saint JulienLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Saint Pierre 2018 Saint Julien wie folgt:

The deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Saint-Pierre displays shy scents of rose hip tea. dried mint. crushed rocks and lavender to begin. opening out to a growing core of warm blackcurrants. baked blackberries and Morello cherries plus wafts of garrigue and wild sage. Full-bodied and absolutely laden with black fruits and provocative mineral sparks. it has a firm texture of grainy tannins and plenty of freshness. finishing long and savory. Aging is anticipated to be for 14 months in 50% new and 50% second-fill barrels. The blend is currently 77% Cabernet Sauvignon and 23% Merlot.

92-95 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Saint Pierre 2018 Saint JulienAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Saint Pierre 2018 Saint Julien wie folgt:

A powerful. virile wine. the 2018 Saint-Pierre is also one of the highlights of the vintage.

Chateau Quinault l Enclos 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Cru verkostet Christian Balog von CB Weinhandel in Essen für Sie wie folgt: Christian Balog beschreibt den Wein wie folgt:

Cuvee: 71.5 Merlot / 14.5 Cabernet Franc / 14 Cabernet Sauvignon. 90-92+ Punkte

93-94 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Quinault l Enclos 2018 Saint Emilion Grand CruJames Suckling bewertet den Chateau Quinault L Enclos 2018 am 11.04.2019 wie folgt:

This is the best Quinault ever for me with beautiful density and depth of fruit. Full body. velvety tannins and a long and intense finish. Lots of fruit. but the tannins hold it together.

92-94 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für denLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Quinault L Enclos 2018 im April 2019 wie folgt:

This a very gravelly soil with great drainage. but not a lot of water during dry periods. Adeptly produced by the team of Cheval Blanc (who purchased the estate in 2008). the wine nonetheless maintained its poise under the dry. warm ripening conditions of 2018. coming in at a respectable pH of 3.67 and relatively moderate alcohol of 14.1%. The 2018 Quinault l Enclos is blended of 70% Merlot. 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc with 50% new oak and the rest in one-year-old barrels—but only 500-liter and foudres. Deep purple-black in color. it slips seductively out of the glass with notions of warm plums. blueberry preserves and mulberries with touches of spice box. tilled soil. black olives and licorice plus a waft of lavender. Medium to full-bodied. the palate is laden with muscular black fruit and licorice sparks. framed by rounded tannins and just enough freshness. finishing with a peppery kick.

91-94 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Quinault l Enclos 2018 Saint Emilion Grand CruAntonio Galloni beschreibt den Wein im Mai 2019 wie folgt:

The 2018 Quinault L Enclos is impressive. Creamy and ample. the 2018 stands out for its textural breadth. There is a level of intensity in the 2018 that previous vintages have not achieved. with a balance of Merlot. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc that is striking for such a young wine. All of the work the Cheval Blanc team has done here over the last ten years have begun to pay off big time. Half of the property was replanted between 2008 and 2012 with more Cabernet Sauvignon. Cabernet Franc from Cheval and Merlot on later-ripening rootstock. In the glass. the 2018 Quinault offers a striking interplay of floral and savory aromatic and layered fruit. with ripe. silky tannins that caress a core of plush. plaint fruit and a gorgeous. saline-infused finish. There is a level of precision in the 2018 that is positively breathtaking.

A tangy and tight red with blackberry and black-olive character. Hint of dark chocolate. Medium to full body and firm. tight tannins. Fresh and energetic dark fruit.

Features seamlessly layered dark currant. fig and boysenberry fruit. infused liberally with a tobacco note and backed by a long. smoldering finish. Latent energy keeps this going. An impressive young wine.

92-95 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Clos de L Oratoire 2018 Saint EmilionAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Clos de L Oratoire 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

The 2018 Clos de l Oratoire is another stunning wine in Stephan von Neipperg s range. The greater presence of Cabernet Franc. along with a move towards earlier picking. no SO2 at crush and less oak influence are some of the factors that have completely transformed Clos de l Oratoire from the powerhouse it often was to a wine of total and exquisite finesse. Inky dark fruit. lavender. sage. and mint give the 2018 striking aromatic depth. but it is the wine total sense of harmony that impresses most. The 2018 is fabulous. That is all there is to it. Tasted two times.
