Tenuta Le Potazzine

Der Begriff Potazzine geht zurück auf die im Montalcino heimischen Kohlmeisen, kleine helle und farbenfrohe Vögel. Ähnlich lebensfroh kann man sicher das Dreigespann aus Gigliola Giannetti und ihren Töchtern Viola und Sofia beschreiben.

Die Verbindung mit den beiden Potazzine wird nicht nur durch den Namen ausgedrückt, sondern findet sich auch auf dem gesamten Entwicklungsweg des Weinguts, der 1993 mit der Geburt der ältesten Tochter Viola und einer Erweiterung um zwei Hektar im Jahr 1996 begann. mit der Ankunft von Sofia, bis die 5 Hektar in Brunello registriert sind, die das Anwesen heute rühmt.

Das Weingut besitzt heute neben weiteren Weinbergen auch fünf Hektar an Rebflächen auf 507 Höhenmetern, die für Brunello klassifiziert sind. Die anderen Rebstöcke sind in der Gegend von Sant'Angelo in Colle angepflanzt, etwa 340 Meter über dem Meeresspiegel. Bei der Kellerarbeit und dem angepeilten Weinstil ist das Team der Tenuta Le Potazzine besonders auf Harmonie, Finesse und Sauberkeit bedacht. Dabei nutzt man auch das individuelle Potential einheimischer Hefen, die zusammen mit der langen Mazerationszeit und der Reifung in mittelgroßen slawonischen Eichenfässern die Eckpfeiler bei der Vinifizierung darstellen.

Tenuta Le Potazzine Brunello di Montalcino 2016

Monica Larner beschreibt den Tenuta Le Potazzine Brunello di Montalcino 2016 im November 2020 wie folgt:

Le Potazzine always delivers a smooth and silky style with extreme elegance and the lifted cool-climate fruit that you get from this high-altitude growing site. The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino is taut and firm with cherry fruit, dried raspberry, tilled earth, spice and blue flower. The wine sees an extended fermentation of 40 days and ages in botte grande for 42 months. This is a well-balanced wine that is slightly thinner, with one notch lower intensity in this vintage compared to past editions. You get a light, sharp and streamlined style. I prefer the 2015 vintage slightly to this wine, but I'm suggesting a longer drinking window here. This is an 18.000-bottle release that hits the market in January 2021.

The remarkably pretty 2016 Brunello di Montalcino shows a pure bouquet full of wild strawberries, woodland berries and herbs with a hint of crushed stone. It’s soft and enveloping, displaying fleshy red fruits, savory spice and salty minerals, while vibrant acids maintain wonderful freshness. It’s only at the very end that its youthful structure comes forward, grippy and classically drying, yet under an air of red licorice and inner rose. There’s a beautiful harmony to this vintage of Le Potazzine, which should provide a long and wide drinking window.

Und James Suckling notiert im November 2020:

This is a cooler style of Brunello with blueberries, black cherries, crushed stones and lavender. It’s full-bodied with firm, tight tannins. Yet, it opens at the end to pinpointed fruit and tannins. Give this time to soften. Try after 2024.

"Score: 95" lässt der Wine Spectator im Juni 2021 vernehmen, und weiter:

Black cherry, black currant and plum flavors are front and center in this supple red, with accents of earth, iron, leather and tobacco chiming in as the tannins flex their muscles on the long finish. Everything is there, this just needs to integrate. Best from 2025 through 2048. 1.500 cases made, 500 cases imported.

The ladies of Le Potazzine make a terrific bottle of Brunello, and their high-elevation vineyards are especially important in maintaining freshness in a scorching-hot vintage such as this. The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino offers a pretty succession of wild berry, cherry and plum aromas, along with light spice, crushed flowers and perfumed potting soil. This wine is also distinguished by a touch of bay leaf and maybe a warmer note of cured tobacco as well. This is an impressive effort (with 16,000 bottles released).

Eric Guido lobt beim Tenuta Le Potazzine Brunello di Montalcino 2017 im Dezember 2021, dass der Wein durch seine höher gelegenen Weinberge einer der Weine in dem JG ist, der die höchste Balance aufweist. Hier würde nicht durch verrücktes Weinmachen übertrieben und mache ihn deshalb zu einem der interessantesten Weine des gesamten JG.
