Quinta do Passadouro

Quinta do Passadouro

Quinta do Passadouro Reserva 2016 Douro

92-94 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Quinta do Passadouro Reserva 2016 DouroThe 2016 Reserva. a tank sample (out of barrel. final blend) when seen. will be released shortly after this article appears. An old-vines (70 years) field blend. it was aged for 20 months in 30% new French oak. Beautifully focused and balanced. this has subtle concentration and a fresh feel. The flavors are a little obscured by the new wood in its youth. but that will be easily absorbed. Then. it tightens persistently on the finish and shuts down hard. This is the one built to reward cellaring in the lineup. You should be prepared to give it a few years of rest. There were 6.500 bottles produced.

Quinta do Passadouro Touriga Franca 2015 Douro

89-91 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Quinta do Passadouro Touriga Franca 2015 DouroVerkostungsnotiz von Mark Squires vom 31. August 2017:

The 2015 Touriga Franca may be the best I've seen yet. It was aged for 18 months in 90% used French oak and comes in at 13.5% alcohol. Filling the mouth nicely and then proceeding on to a serious. dry finish. this has fine structure. finesse and elegance. The tannins are relatively ripe. Tasty—although this is not the most flavorful grape ever—fresh and solid. this should age very well. It should also be approachable young. but it certainly needs a few years to show its best. This was in tank. out of barrel and the final blend but not quite bottled when seen. Sourced from 40+-year-old vines. there were just 4.000 bottles produced. Note: There will be no monovarietal Touriga Nacional this year. in case you're wondering. because winemaker Jorges Borges wanted one with more finesse than what he got in the vintage.
