95 Sucklingpunkte für denJames Suckling im Juli 2020 zum Frescobaldi Castello Nippozano Mormoreto 2017:

A big, rich red with blackberry, chocolate and walnut aromas and flavors. It’s full and layered. Just a baby. Reflects the ripeness of the vintage, yet shows energy. Better after 2022.

A vibrant red with blueberry and chocolate plus currant and raspberry. Medium body. round tannins and lots of beautiful fruit. 50% sangiovese. 20% cabernet sauvignon. 20% syrah and 10% merlot. Better to drink in 2017 but so impressive now.

Tua Rita 2015 Rosso dei Notri Toscana RossoMonica Larner bewertet den Rosso dei Notri 2015 am 28.04.2017 wie folgt:

This well-priced blend of Merlot. Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah has earned a steady and enthusiastic following in both foreign and domestic markets. The 2015 Rosso dei Notri makes a great ambassador for this vintage. Some 135.000 bottles were made. The wine shows a level of completeness. fullness and textural richness that is a good sign for all Tuscan reds made in this fortunate growing season. The wine opens to a darkly saturated ruby appearance with generous aromas of cherry and blackberry with spice and tobacco. The tannins are nicely integrated within the fiber of the fruit.

Currant, flower and orange-blossom aromas follow through to a full body with fine, creamy tannins and a long, persistent finish. Shows finesse and precision. Cherry and orange-peel notes at the end. The flavors go on and on. Better after 2022.

2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Ama San Lorenzo mit 94 Punkten bei VinousAntonio Galloni beschreibt den 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione San Lorenzo im August 2019 wie folgt:

The 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Ama San Lorenzo is a blend taken from Ama's four core estate vineyards. Black cherry, graphite, sage, mint, juniper berries and licorice give the San Lorenzo a distinctly dark. brooding profile to match its powerful feel. The big tannins need time to soften, but there is certainly plenty to look forward to. Stylistically. San Lorenzo is closest to Bellavista, with which it shares a decidedly somber feel. This is such a gorgeous wine.

2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Ama San Lorenzo mit 94 Punkten bei James SucklingJames Suckling beschreibt den 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione San Lorenzo im July 2019 wie folgt:

This is very polished and refined with chocolate, walnut and berry aromas and flavors. Medium to full body. Licorice and berry undertones. Balanced, as always. Drink or hold.

Castello di Ama Chianti Classico Gran Selezione San Lorenzo 2016 mit 95 Parker Punkten bewertetMonica Larner beschreibt den 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione San Lorenzo am 19. September 2019 wie folgt:

The 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione San Lorenzo is immediately more inky and balsamic in terms of aromas. As soon as you lift the wine to your nose, you get pretty tones of blackberry, cassis, rosemary essence, licorice and a touch of medicinal herb. I love when Sangiovese produces those elegant aromas and for that reason, this wine stands tall among the three single-vineyard expressions from Marco Pallanti and Castello di Ama. It shows fiber, richness and lasting structure with a very well-managed quality of tannins.

Napanook 2013 mit 97 Punkten bei James Suckling ausgezeichnetJames Suckling beschreibt den Napanook 2013 am 15. Januar 2016 wie folgt:

Fabulous nose of mushrooms, like porcini, with black truffle that turns to citrus fruits such as orange and tangerine. Some vine bark. Full-bodied yet wonderfully firm and formed with refined and polished tannins. Super definition. Drink in 2018, but wonderful to experience.

95 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Napanook 2013 Napa Valley Dominus EstateAntonio Galloni - Verkostungsnotiz vom Oktober 2015:

Just as magnificent from bottle as it was in barrel, the 2013 Napanook is dense, powerful and brooding, with searing intensity and extraordinary balance. Lavender, plums, violets, licorice and smoke are some of the signatures, but the 2013 exudes finesse, power and intensity. Bracing and searing, the 2013 is going to require quite a bit of patience. If anything, this is an insane level of quality for the second selection. The 2013 could turn out to be a thirty-year wine. It is every bit that magnificent, especially if given some aeration.

93 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Napanook 2013 Napa Valley Dominus EstateRobert Parker jr. im Oktober 2015:

There are 2,000 cases of the 2013 Napanook Proprietary Red Wine, a blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc. This wine reflects the much higher quality that’s emerging with the second wine of Dominus, which has really become almost its own entity. Loads of loamy soil notes, grilled herbs, meat, blackcurrants, sweet kirsch and licorice are all present in this medium to full-bodied, lush, sexy wine, even in 2013. It is interesting how much more evolved and forward the 2013 Napanook is compared to the 2013 Dominus. This wine can be drunk over the next 12-15 years. In any event, both merit considerable attention from subscribers.

Aromas of currants and fresh herbs, such as bay leaf and basil, follow through to a full body with layers of ripe tannins and a chewy finish. This is just a baby now and needs three or four years to come around. Try after 2024.

97+ Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Le Macchiole Paleo 2017 Toscana Cabernet FrancMonica Larner über den Paleo Rosso 2017 von Le Macchiole im Oktober 2020:

The Three Graces of Le Macchiole are Messorio, Scrio and Paleo (Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc, respectively). Of these three top-tier releases, my favorite is the 2017 Paleo. This is an upright and direct expression of the grape that carefully sheds some dusty or mineral aromas before opening the way for determined black fruit, charred meat, spice and cured tobacco or cigar. There is quite a bit of oak, but it works beautifully against the natural intensity and rich concentration of the hot vintage. More unexpected are those pretty tones of lilac, blue flower and aniseed that add to the detailed rendering and complexity of the bouquet. This wine won my heart.

96 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Le Macchiole Paleo 2017 Toscana Cabernet FrancAntonio Galloni zum Paleo 2017 im Januar 2021:

The 2017 Paleo Rosso is superb. It is also the wine in this range that seems to have handled the rigors of 2017 best. Then again, that is the magic of Cabernet Franc on the Tuscan Coast. The aromatics alone are so alluring. Sweet pipe tobacco, mocha, dried flowers, mint, sage and cedar give Paleo its aromatic lift. Some varietal character has been baked out because of the heat of the year. In exchange, readers will find a Paleo Rosso that will drink well with just a year or two in bottle. The 2017 was fermented in cement and aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, 90% new with light toast.

94 Punkte Vinous für den Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 Estate Santa Cruz MountainsVerkostungsnotiz von Antonio Galloni von September 2020:

Ridge’s 2017 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a fabulous choice for readers who want a Monte Bello fix now, without having to wait. Supple, radiant and silky, with tremendous balance, the 2017 is just flat-out delicious and utterly irresistible. Dark red cherry/plum fruit, mocha, licorice, sweet tobacco and a kick of American oak build as this sumptuous Cabernet Sauvignon shows its allure. The 2017 is an outrageously beautiful wine. Don’t miss it.

94 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Ridge Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2017Erin Brooks im Februar 2021:

“The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Monte Bello Vineyard is blended with 21% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. The nose is still tightly wound, taking plenty of air to reveal deep aromas of cassis, tobacco, licorice and coffee with top notes of violet and graphite. The palate is full-bodied and powerful, with a firm grain and concentrated fruits, and it finishes very long, layered and uplifted. This will require more time in bottle than the Klein Cabernet.” -Erin Brooks (February 2021)

93 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck für den The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate showed beautifully, with gorgeous notes of cassis, crushed violets, graphite, and lead pencil all emerging from the glass. Showing plenty of richness and depth, medium to full body, good acidity, and plenty of firm tannins, it’s not a blockbuster, but it has the balance and class to evolve for 15 years or more. The blend is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot.

Weinbeschreibung:
75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot

Winemaker Tasting Note:
Saturated purple in color. Aromas of cassis, blueberry, cola, licorice, and sweet oak. Ripe blackberry fruit entry, full bodied, rich textures, exotic spice roasted coffee, and toasted oak aftertaste. Complex, long, sensuous finish. EB (1/20)
