Sein Duft präsentiert sich tiefgründig und doch irgendwo sehr fein. Es ist eine schwarze Frucht, die mit Gesteinsmehl fast schon kühl bis reserviert im Zaun gehalten wird. Im Mund ist der Wein kraftvoll, aber seine sehr elegante, bis sehnige Tanninstruktur verleiht ihm einen aromatischen Aufwind. Er ist insgesamt zwar kompakt, hat aber ausreichend Finesse, zur Zeit wirkt er vielleicht noch etwas verschlossen und man erkennt nicht alles, was im diesjährigen Trotanoy schlummert, auf jeden Fall dürfen sich Fans dieses Pomerol auf eine neue Facette freuen, denn es fällt schwer Jahrgangsvergleiche zu Ziehen, vielleicht ist da etwas von 2010 und 2016 gemischt mit 2012 aber wie gesagt es bleibt schwer einzuordnen. Ein drahtiger mittelkräftiger Wein wird seine aromatischen Geheimnisse noch eine Weile für sich behalten. Die Qualität ist da, wohin das Pendel ausschlagen wird bleibt für mich zur Zeit noch offen. 96-98

Despite mostly being not destemmed, you wouldn't know it by tasting it. A gorgeous richness straight away, you can feel the intensity and concentration but the texture is so sleek, almost silky yet weighty, juicy and intense. Supple but firm with crushed stones, liquorice, tobacco, dark chocolate, plums and blackcurrants. On the several occasions that I tasted it, the 2022 was surprisingly open for a young Las Cases, but it wouldn't surprise me if it were to shut down after a few years in bottle. It's a blend of 83.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10.5% Cabernet Franc and 6% Merlot.

Yet, even with all its depth of flavor, there is refinement, lift, and complexity that requires time and effort to unfurl. The fruit is uncommonly rich in the mid-palate the tannins are strong, ripe and firm. The seamless finish, with its wall of rich, black and blue fruit hits the 60 second mark with ease. As always, Leoville Las Cases requires bottle aging. But, with 2022, my guess is the wine will start to shine after a decade of age, evolving and improving for 40-50 years with ease. Produced from a blend 83.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10.5% Cabernet Franc and 6% Merlot. 14.25% ABV. 3.80 pH. Harvesting took place September 8 - September 30. Yields were 36 hectoliters per hectare. This is only the second time in the history of the estate that you find more Cabernet Franc than Merlot in the blend. Drink from 2030-2065.

A beautiful wine that, shockingly, reminds me of the 2016, the 2022 Château Figeac checks in as 35% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Franc, and 31% Cabernet Sauvignon that was harvested from the 1st of September to the 25th. Director Frédéric Faye commented that verasion took longer than usual, and they had to do a slight green harvest to get uniform ripeness. The results are stunning. The wine has a vivid purple hue as well as remarkable freshness and purity in its black and blue fruits, which are followed by notes of wild herbs, chocolate, graphite, spring flowers, and a touch of classic Cabernet Sauvignon graphite. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a silky, elegant mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. This classic, ultra-precise Figeac is going to warrant a solid decade of bottle age and be very long-lived given its purity and balance.

An incredibly impressive wine in 2022 shaping up to be the wine of the vintage not only as it seems to defy the hot and dry conditions in every way but delivers such confidence and charm it makes it hard to resist. Gorgeous aromatic expression on the nose, open and alive, generous scents of bright bramble fruit and floral notes as well as graphite and cedar. Smooth, supple and generous on the palate, tannins are silky and perfectly weighted giving roundness but also structure with a red berry juiciness and saline bite that is so compelling. Vibrant, dynamic, balanced and precise, the energy is outstanding yet there’s still depth, weight and power underneath. There's not a single thing out of place - utterly seductive and totally moreish.
