90 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Cap de Faugeres 2016Lisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018:

The 2016 Cap de Faugeres (composed of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon) has a medium garnet-purple color and reveals notions of warm plums, blackberry pie and black raspberries with touches of pencil shavings and sautéed herbs. Medium-bodied with a velvety texture and good core of black fruits, it finishes on a long-lasting earthy note.

92 Parker Punkte für den Chateau La Vieille Cure 2016 FronsacLisa Perrotti Brown 30. November 2018

The 2016 La Vieille Cure has a deep garnet-purple color and quite a savory nose of chargrilled meats, tapenade, beef dripping and dried herbs over a core of plum preserves and Black Forest cake. Full-bodied, rich and packed with black plums and savory layers, it has a firm, velvety frame and fantastic length.

The 2016 La Vieille Cure is fabulous. Racy and voluptuous in the glass, the 2016 is seriously beautiful. Raspberry jam, white chocolate, spice, leather and rose petal notes infuse this super-expressive, plush Fronsac. La Vieille Cure is a wine of real character and pedigree. I loved it.

The 2016 Reynon is laced with the essence of sweet raspberry, spice and wild flowers. Élevage has brought out greater freshness and energy than the wine showed en primeur. Stylistically, the 2016 is a bit more floral and fresh than has been the case in the recent past. Tasted two times.

86 Punkte | Lisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018:

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Reynon has a pretty perfume of roses and potpourri over a core of redcurrant jelly and mulberries plus a waft of cassis. Medium-bodied with a solid structure of chewy tannins, it has plenty of juicy red fruit and an earthy finish.

The 2016 Belle-Vue is a fabulous value, as it often is. Dark red cherry, plum, chocolate, leather and spice are all amped up in this generous, superbly delicious Haut-Médoc. The blend is 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 20% Petit Verdot.

89 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Belle Vue 2016 Haut MedocLisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018:

Blended of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 20% Petit Verdot, the 2016 Belle-Vue has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and nose of spice box, cedar chest and oolong tea with a core of red and black currants plus a waft of chargrill. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh, soft and juicy with a lovely burst of black fruit in the mouth leading to a savory finish. Nearly 900 cases were made.

James Suckling Januar 2019:

90 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Belle Vue 2016 Haut MedocVinous / Neal Martin Januar 2019:

The 2016 Belle-Vue feels just a little reduced on the nose and demands some aeration: quite intense black cherries, blueberry and boysenberry jam, ebbing away to reveal more marine-like influences. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin, good acidity, very smooth and harmonious and, though there is a fair "slap" of new oak on the finish, it feels simpatico with the fruit. Give this two or three years in the cellar. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London.

94 Sucklingpunkte für den Artikelname Chateau Belgrave 2016 Haut MedocVerkostungsbericht vom 03. Februar 2019:

Extremely perfumed with lots of cabernet character, such as flowers and blackcurrants. Full body, a pretty core of fruit and very polished tannins that fold into the fruit. Extremely well crafted. A blend of 69 per cent cabernet sauvignon, 28 per cent merlot and three per cent petit verdot. Needs two or three years to come together. Try after 2022.

91 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Belgrave 2016 Haut MedocAntonio Galloni Januar 2019:

The 2016 Belgrave is gorgeous. Striking aromatics and silky, nuanced fruit give the 2016 much of its considerable immediacy and overall appeal. This expressive, beautifully layered Haut-Médoc has a lot to offer.

89 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Belgrave 2016 Haut MedocVinous / Neal Martin Januar 2019:

The 2016 Belgrave has a focused cedar and earth bouquet, displaying plenty of sous-bois, but with black fruit tucked in just behind. The palate is nicely balanced, although it lacks a little substance. That said, I appreciate the delineation on the finish, which reveals pencil shavings and tobacco on the aftertaste. This just attenuated too much for my liking.

The 2016 Cambon La Pelouse is a wine of real depth, power and flavor. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, leather, tobacco, cedar and earthy notes are all laced together in this punchy, expressive Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois. Once again, Cambon Le Pelouse over delivers. It should drink well for the next decade-plus. Tasted two times.

92 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Cambon La Pelouse 2016 Haut MedocJames Suckling Januar 2019:

Very classic Haut-Médoc with tons of blackcurrants and blackberries. Yet there’s rather classic balance with elegant, moderately dry tannins and a long, clean finish. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot. Drink or hold.

94 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Cantemerle 2016 Haut MedocVerkostungsbericht vom 03. Februar 2019:

Plenty of menthol, blackberry and blackcurrant aromas in this elegant, medium-weight Haut-Médoc that’s got as much freshness as ripeness and a long, clean, mineral and herbal finish. An incredibly food-flexible wine! Drink or hold.

92 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Cantemerle 2016 Haut MedocAntonio Galloni Januar 2019:

The 2016 Cantemerle has developed beautifully with élevage. Pliant, silky and exceptionally balanced, the 2016 has the pedigree and complexity to allow for a number of years of very fine drinking. Moreover, the 2016 delivers serious flavor intensity without being at all heavy. Smoke, iron and cedar add character to a Haut-Médoc that has a lot to offer.

89 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Cantemerle 2016 Haut MedocLisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018:

Medium garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cantemerle offers up warm plums, black cherries and mulberries with an earth and bay leaves undercurrent. The palate is medium-bodied with just enough fruit and pleasantly chewy tannins, finishing with an herbal lift.

91 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Cantemerle 2016 Haut MedocVinous / Neal Martin Januar 2019:

The 2016 Cantemerle has a fresh bouquet of airy, floral black fruit; light violet scents emerge with time. The sorbet-fresh palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, and blood orange mingles with supple red fruit toward the graphite-infused finish. Delicious, classic and probably destined to age with class. Maybe a great value to boot?

The 2016 Ducru-Beaucaillou is an arrestingly beautiful wine. Powerful and sensual in the glass, the 2016 exudes remarkable concentration from start to finish. Red cherry fruit, pomegranate, blood orange, menthol and sweet tobacco all race across the palate. Vivid, sumptuous and impeccable in its balance, Ducru is one of the wines of the vintage in 2016. It has been unforgettable on both occasions I have tasted it from bottle so far.

eep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Ducru-Beaucaillou features a wonderfully savory, earthy/meaty nose, delivering well-defined notes of tapenade, truffles, charcuterie and sautéed herbs over crème de cassis, wild blueberries and kirsch with wafts of pencil lead and menthol. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is built like a brick house with the taut, muscular fruit well framed by very firm yet very ripe and finely grained tannins, offering a quiet intensity of red fruit and mineral sparks and finishing with epic length.

99 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou 2016 Saint JulienJames Suckling Februar 2019:

Super perfumed, attractive violets with a thread of fresh blueberries, cassis, blackberries and dark plums, delivering a very enticing impression. Beautiful ripeness here. The tannins are perfectly ripe and layers meld into each other, carrying deep, graceful and plush, velvety dark fruit long into the vibrant and seductive, chocolate-laced finish. Great potential. Try from 2024.

97 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou 2016 Saint JulienVinous / Neal Martin Januar 2019:

The 2016 Ducru-Beaucaillou, bottled in August 2018, is very deep in color. It has a tightly wound bouquet of blackberry, boysenberry and minerals and a faint estuarine tang of oyster shells. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin, layers of pure blackberry and wild strawberry, and veins of blue fruit tinged with a conspicuous graphite note that becomes more pronounced with aeration. This is almost a Pauillac-like Ducru-Beaucaillou, quite noble and blue-blooded. A wine that should give 40 to 50 years of drinking pleasure.

The 2016 Branaire-Ducru is powerful, dense and explosive to a degree that is surprising for a wine that is typically much more sensual. There is lovely definition throughout, but readers will have to be patient to catch the 2016 at its very best. Hints of leather, smoke, tobacco and dried flowers begin to open up in the glass, but the 2016 is quite reticent at this stage. In two tastings I found the 2016 unusually closed. 98 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Leoville Las Cases 2016 Saint JulienAntonio Galloni Januar 2019:

The 2016 Léoville Las Cases is a majestic, seamless, opulent wine. Yes, I am talking about Las Cases, traditionally one of the Left Bank's most austere, forbiddingly tannic wines. Sumptuous and full-bodied, the 2016 takes over all the senses, with seemingly endless layers of inky, purplish fruit. Mint, lavender and white flowers are some of the many notes that emerge from the exotic, arrestingly beautiful bouquet as the 2016 makes its case for consideration as one of the wines of the vintage. The 2016 got an extra three months in barrel and was therefore bottled on the later side, but that does not appear to have done anything to close the wine down. The 2016 was magnificent on both occasions I tasted it. Put simply, the 2016 Las Cases is a total stunner. Don't miss it!

100 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Leoville Las Cases 2016 Saint JulienLisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018:

Very deep purple-black colored, the 2016 Léoville Las Cases (composed of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc) is quite closed to begin, yet with patient coaxing it unfurls beautifully to reveal suggestions of ripe blackcurrants, black raspberries, warm redcurrants and wild blueberries, followed by touches of unsmoked cigars, tilled red soil, cast iron pan, fallen leaves and lavender plus wonderfully fragrant wafts of lilacs and baking spices. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is packed with tightly knit, very subtle layers of minerals, floral notions and black and red berries, all framed by exquisitely ripe, silt-like tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing with epic length and depth. Simply captivating even in its youth, give it at least a decade in the cellar and then enjoy it over the next 50+ years.

98 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Leoville Las Cases 2016 Saint JulienVinous / Neal Martin Januar 2019:

The 2016 Léoville Las-Cases underwent three more months in barrel than usual, and was bottled in September 2018. It has an extremely intense bouquet that manages to retain otherworldly delineation. It is not as expressive as its peers at this early stage (but then again, it rarely is). Yet there is palpable coiled-up energy on the nose, and you can feel the mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with super-fine tannin and layers of pure black and blue fruit laced with allspice and a pinch of white pepper. It fans out wonderfully on the finish, which exerts fine grip but never overwhelms. This is undoubtedly one of the best wines ever made by the estate. Close to perfection.

100 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Leoville Las Cases 2016 Saint JulienJames Suckling im Februar 2019:

Very complex and alluringly spicy aromas that bubble in and out of the nose, together with fresh tobacco, raspberries and iodine, moving into blackcurrants, blackberries and a gently gravely, stony edge. The palate has incredible polish that is a foil for the intense power and concentration of this wine. The texture is flawless, building smoothly with fine-grained and focused tannins that sustain a long, fresh finish. The new 1986, which was a legend. This is probably better. A blend of 75 per cent cabernet sauvignon, 14 per cent merlot and 11 per cent cabernet franc. Try from 2024.

The 2016 Lagrange (Saint-Julien) is super-expressive today. Soft and supple, the 2016 is quite open, even in the early going. Sweet tobacco, menthol, dried herbs and licorice appear with time in the glass, adding lovely shades of nuance. All the elements fall into place effortlessly. Lagrange is not especially complex, but it is absolutely delicious and will be impossible to resist upon release. A touch of blood orange, mint and red berry fruit adds freshness on the finish.

Lisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018: 95

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Lagrange sashays out of the glass with notions of candied violets, cassis, underbrush and warm black plums with waves of Black Forest cake, cedar chest and yeast extract scents. The 2016 Siran has a backward bouquet, quite delineated and broody at first, then opening gradually to reveal blackberry, cedar and graphite scents - almost Pauillac-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, very good concentration and purity, and fresh, brine-tinged black fruit toward the sensual finish. Bon vin.

96 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Siran 2016 MargauxJames Suckling Januar 2019:

Very attractive, plush and rich red and dark-fruit aromas with beautifully integrated oak and youthful, spicy complexity. The palate has lush, seamless and velvety tannins that are elegant yet powerful and deliver a silky build of ripe dark-berry flavors into a long, seamless finish. Greatest Siran ever! Try from 2023.

Extremely deep and ripe on the nose with dried-berry, chocolate and plum aromas that follow through to a full body, round and soft tannins and a flavorful finish. A rich and soft-tannin structure to the wine. Try after 2024.

90 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau du Tertre 2016 MargauxVerkostungsbericht vom 30. November 2018:

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 du Tertre features cassis, red plums and spice box on the nose with herbs and earth nuances. The palate is medium-bodied, lean and soft with an earthy finish.

92 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau du Tertre 2016 MargauxVerkostungsbericht aus Januar 2019:

The 2016 du Tertre has really come together nicely. There is a sense of translucence in the 2016 that conveys finesse and refinement. Sage, mint, dried flowers and sweet herbs add layers of aromatic nuance as the sweet red cherry and plum fruit is pushed forward. I would prefer to drink this pleasant, easygoing Margaux over the next 10-15 years.

94 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Giscours 2016 MargauxAntonio Galloni Januar 2019:

The 2016 Giscours is complex, aromatically intense and beguiling, with myriad layers of flavors that unfold with time in the glass. Black cherry, sage, leather, smoke and menthol add plenty of intrigue, but above all else, it is the wine's balance and sense of harmony that make the deepest impression. Under the leadership of Alexander Van Beek and his team, Giscours has been on a roll over the last few years. The 2016 is another fine vintage.

93 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Giscours 2016 MargauxLisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018:

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Giscours gives up aromas of cassis, chocolate, earth, tar, pepper and hoisin with touches of flowers and a meaty nuance. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm and grainy with a great core and a long finish.

96 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Giscours 2016 MargauxVerkostungsbericht vom 03. Februar 2019:

This has attractive, glossy, ripe red-plum and licorice aromas with cedar, flowers and red berries, as well as a stony edge. A very fragrant, cabernet-driven nose. The palate has elegance and grace with sleek and charming, balanced style and a discreet tannin structure that holds the finish long and fresh. A blend of 81 per cent cabernet sauvignon and 19 per cent merlot. Try from 2023.

The 2016 La Sirène de Giscours is a very pretty second wine from Giscours. Pliant, supple and inviting, the 2016 has so much to offer, including a level of pure immediacy that will make it nearly impossible to resist. Floral overtones and silky tannins add to the wine's considerable allure. There is so much to like here.

Lisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018: 87

The 2016 La Sirene de Giscours is medium garnet-purple in color with a nose of tar, earth and fried herbs with vague plums notions. The medium-bodied palate is firm, chewy and bitter.

94+ Parker Punkte für den Chateau d Issan 2016 aus MargauxLisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018:

The 2016 D'Issan is blended of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon and 36% Merlot, aged in 50% new and 50% one-year-old French oak for 18 months. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it has vibrant black cherries and blackcurrants notes with chocolate mint, beef drippings, black olives and cigar box. Medium-bodied with a well-sustained, intensely flavored mid-palate, it has a rock-solid, grainy frame and long savory finish. 10,500 cases produced.

94 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau d´Issan 2016 MargauxVinous / Neal Martin Januar 2019:

The 2016 d’Issan, matured in 50% new oak and bottled at the end of May, was impressive out of barrel, and thankfully, it is the same in bottle. The very well defined bouquet features blackberry, tobacco, pressed violets and a subtle estuarine tang, almost a marshland scent of salty air. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin, good focused and just the right amount of salinity. My feeling is that this Margaux will close up for a while, so cellar it for several years if you can. 13.34% alcohol.

96 Sucklingpunkte für den Artikelname Chateau D´Issan 2016 MargauxJames Suckling Januar 2019:

The brightness and precision already comes through on the nose with floral, blackcurrant character. Full-bodied and very tight and creamy with polished tannins that last for minutes. Warm and intense. Needs four to five years to show all it has, yet already a beauty.

93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Lascombes 2016 Margaux Antonio Galloni Januar 2019:

The 2016 Lascombes is grown into a gorgeous wine. Blackberry jam, chocolate, new leather, espresso and copious new oak all flesh out in this ample, resonant wine. As always Lascombes is done in a style that brings out the more lush, flamboyant side of Margaux. In this vintage, all the elements meld together effortlessly, something that isn't always the case.

94+ Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Lascombes 2016 Margaux Lisa Perrotti Brown 30. November 2018

The 2016 Figeac is comprised of 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, the nose is a little broody and reticent at this very youthful stage, slowly unfolding to reveal profound plum preserves, crème de cassis, black raspberries and star anise with hints of moss-covered bark, truffles and tilled loam plus a waft of red currants and raspberry leaves sparks. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is practically quivering with energy, offering glimpses at tightly wound black fruit and mineral/ferrous layers, framed by very firm, ripe tannins and wonderful tension, finishing long with the spices coming through. This will need a good 7-8 years to come round and then should cellar for 40+ years. Very serious, beautifully poised and sophisticated personality this vintage.

“There was a little more water stress in 2016 than in 2018,” Frédéric Faye mentioned. “The cooler nights here helped us to avoid too much water stress this year. We are not de-leafing a lot now—just on one side to expose the grapes to the morning sun, but we do not de-leaf on the afternoon sun side, where it can get very hot.” Figeac continues along its upward trajectory in terms of heights of greatness and consistency. Faye has adeptly managed to maintain the energy in the wines that is a signature of Figeac while revealing more layers, polishing the tannins and, ultimately, offering slightly more muscle to the fruit core. Once his considerable efforts in the vineyards really kick in and the new winery is completed, I am incredibly excited to see what the future holds for this historic, truly special place.

95 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Lascombes 2016 Margaux Verkostungsbericht vom 03. Februar 2019:

Very attractive, ripe dark berries with a meaty edge that delivers a very compelling wine from the outset. Quite plush and elegant tannins with a smooth, juicy and attractive finish that holds long and is saturated in flavor. Seamless build. Really stunning. Try from 2022.
