Chateau Pavie Macquin 2012 Saint Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classe Magnum
93+ Parker Punkte
Robert M. Parker, jr. March 2015

Another wine made by the superstar guru Nicolas Thienpont, this well-situated property of 37 acres on the high clay/limestone plateau in St.-Emilion has produced a blend of 84 % Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. A masculine, virile style of wine with an inky deep purple color, lots of crème de cassis and crushed rock and high tannin. This is thick and powerful, with a layered mouthfeel, good purity, earthiness and spice. Forget it for 4-5 years and drink if over the following two decades.

Chateau Troplong Mondot 2010 1er Grand Cru Classe St. Emilion
99 Parker Punkte
Inky, bluish/black/purple, with notes of spring flowers, licorice, camphor, graphite, and a boatload of blueberry, black raspberry and blackberry fruit, this is a powerful, full-bodied Troplong Mondot. All the building components of acidity, tannin, wood and alcohol are judiciously and impressively integrated. It is a blend of 90% Merlot and the rest equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc made by Christine Valette and her husband Xavier Pariente with the consultancy help of Michel Rolland. I-m not sure what the heady alcohol level is in Troplong Mondot in 2010 (it certainly must be in the 15%+ range), but it is well-concealed behind the extravagant, richness, full-bodied power, and pure nobility of this majestic wine. Forget this for 5-7 years and drink it over the following three decades.

An absolutely stunning wine from this estate, which seems to be on a mission to produce exquisite world-class wines with enormous aging potential, the 2010 is showing better from bottle than it even did from barrel.

Flaschenbewertung Robert M.Parker Jr. April 2015

The 2012 is another truly great wine from Troplong Mondot. It’s always sentimental to taste this wine, realizing that proprietress Christine Valette (the larger-than-life heart and soul behind this estate) has passed away. She was one of the bright, shining stars of Bordeaux. Nevertheless, her legacy is certainly well-established, and the quality of this wine is beyond reproach. Inky bluish purple, its great notes of cassis, blackberry, licorice are followed by a full-bodied, opulently textured wine with stunning concentration, purity and overall balance. It should drink well for 20-25 years and turn out to be one of the great superstars of 2012. Their 63-acre vineyard was cropped at 31 hectoliters per hectare, producing a final blend of 90% Merlot and 10 Cabernet Sauvignon that achieved 14.2% alcohol.

From a 63-acre vineyard on the high plateau (called the Plateau of Mondot) adjacent to the famous limestone hillside, the Cote Pavie, the 2012 Troplong Mondot is another fabulous success. Cropped at 31 hectoliters per hectare with malolactic in barrel, this blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon hit 14.2% natural alcohol. Three-fourths of the production went into the grand vin

Offers a solid, if slightly chunky, feel, with ganache and charcoal notes coating the core of dark currant preserves, fig paste and warmed plum fruit. Shows lots of smoldering tobacco accents on the finish. Pretty grippy for the vintage, but this is headed in a promising direction. Cellar for maximum effect. Best from 2018 through 2025. 6,250 cases made. –JM

Chateau Pindefleurs 2012 Saint Emilion Grand Cru

A wine with wonderful depth of fruit and ultra-fine tannins. It really is like pure silk. Full body, with very integrated ripe tannins and a long, long finish. Best ever from here. Drink or hold.

Tasting Note:
The first word that comes to mind here is: harmonious. The wine is attractive, very round, smooth and fresh, with red fruit, redcurrant and blueberry overtones. It will be ready to drink fairly young and should provide a great deal of pleasure.

Chateau Bellevue 2015 Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classe
96-97 Punkte
This shows the purity of Angelus. I have never tasted a wine from here with such incredible clarity. Full body, full fruit and full beauty. Super silky tannins. A joy to taste. Makes you want to drink it. 62% merlot and 38% cabernet franc.

Neal Martin beschreibt den Chateau Bellevue 2015 im April 2016:
The 2015 Bellevue is a pure Merlot picked on September 17, then a pause for two weeks before picking again from October 4-7. It has quite an intense bouquet with lovely floral tones, crème de cassis mixed with licorice, almost brine-like aromas. The palate is very smooth on the entry with good weight in the mouth, plush but structured underneath with fine tannin and precision all the way through to the minerally finish. This estate deserves greater attention.

The 2015 Puy Blanquet, a blend of 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, has an elegant bouquet with black cherries and red plum aromas, understated but nicely poised. The palate is medium-bodied with fine delineation, a touch of dark chocolate on the back palate with a sweet 'n simple, slightly Asian-influenced finish with that tang of hoisin on the aftertaste.

Chateau Clos Saint Martin 2015 Saint Emilion

91-94 Punkte
Antonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Clos Saint Martin 2015 wie folgt:
Sophie Fourcade´s 2015 Clos Saint Martin, is the smallest Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Émilion and also one of the most intriguing wines of the vintage. Because of the tiny size of this parcel (just over one hectare), the fruit was fermented entirely in barrel. Unctuous, rich and silky on the palate, the 2015 is wonderfully polished and captivating, with lovely brightness to its red-fleshed fruit and tons of nuance to match. I can´t wait to taste this from bottle. Tasted two times.

19 / 20 Punkte
Rene Gabriel bewertet den Chateau Clos Saint Martin 2015 wie folgt:
70 % Merlot, 20 % Cabernet Franc, 10 % Cabernet Sauvignon. Sattes Purpur-Granat, dicht in der Mitte, lila Schimmer aussen. Wuchtiges Bouquet mit schwarzen Kirschen, Cassis, Rauch und Lakritze. Beim zweiten Ansatz erste, feine Kräuternoten zeigend. P.S. Die Wertung ist
ohne Vitamin B entstanden. Der Wein ist wirklich so sensationell.

James Suckling bewertet den Chateau Barde Haut 2015 wie folgt:

This is very rich and powerful with blackberry, blueberry, mineral and stone. Full body, very fine tannins.
Very chalky and intense on the finish. Best ever?

92-94 Parker Punkte
Neal Martin April 2016:
The 2015 Château Barde-Haut was harvested from September 17 until October 1, a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc (the latter figure will increase from 2017 with new plantings.) There is no SO2 used during fermentation, just a little after the malolactic, especially the lots in barrel, the part in tank with almost no SO2. The alcohol level is 14%, which is still less than in the past, with a pH of 3.45 to 3.55. It has a wonderful bouquet, extremely well defined with black cherries, cassis and a subtle marine influence - one of the best that I have tasted from this estate. The palate is very well balanced with fine tannin, a keen thread of acidity, very good tension and nervosité right to the pure and caressing finish. Think of it as the "elder sister" of Poesia. Long and tender, this will hopefully replicate this strong performance in barrel.

18 / 20 Punkte

Chateau La Serre 2015 Saint Emilion Grand Cru

90-92 Parker Punkte
Neal Martin bewertet den Chateau La Serre 2015 im April 2016:
The 2015 La Serre, a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, has buoyant red berry fruit on the nose - lively and nonchalant. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannin, well-judged acidity, very harmonious with impressive fruit concentration towards the velvety finish. I often feel that La Serre is overlooked at en primeur, but this is a valuable contribution to the JP Moueix stable this year.

92-93 Punkte
James Suckling bewertet den Chateau La Serre 2015 wie folgt:

Blueberry and blackberry aromas and flavors. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a long, long finish. So polished. A majority of merlot with some cabernet franc.

The 2015 Tour Saint-Christophe, owned by Peter Kwok since 2012, is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc cropped at 33 hl/ha between 3-16 October and matured in 40% new oak. It has an intense nose, perhaps slightly on the alcoholic side due to the Merlot (14.8%). The palate is more controlled and refined. There is still some new oak to be absorbed, but the tannins seem fine, and it is endowed with blood orange and citrus fruit lending freshness and tension on the long, sensual finish. Bottle-age will temper the nose and it should ultimately turn into a very impressive Saint Emilion.

92-94 ParkerPunkte
Neal Martin bewertet den Chateau Haut Brisson 2015 im April 2016:

Until the 2015 vintage, all the fruit from Château Haut Brisson came from down towards Château Teyssier; however, in 2013 Peter Kwok bought a parcel located on the limestone plateau in Saint-Etienne-de-Lisse, which obviously will impact and hopefully improve the quality. The 2015 Haut Brisson is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc cropped at 34 hl/ha and matured in 35% new oak. It has a potent, perfumed bouquet with violet-inked cassis and blueberry fruit that is very well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. This is a little more structured and classier than previous vintages, though there is some chocolaty oak on the finish that needs to be fully subsumed by the time it is bottled. Give this 2-3 years in bottle, because it is a very well-crafted Haut Brisson, though I think even better is to come.

James Suckling bewertet den Chateau Larcis Ducasse 2015 wie folgt:

Hard to believe this. It has a minerality and intensity like a great white wine with so much chalky character that it gives an oyster shell flavor. Full and racy. Shaking my head in intrigue. Wonderfully silky tannins.

94 - 96 Parker Punkte

Neal Martin bewertet den Chateau Larcis Ducasse 2015 im April 2016:
The 2015 Larcis-Ducasse is a blend of 87% Merlot and 13% Cabernet France, picked between 28 September and 10 October, 7-13 October respectively. Cropped at 37 hl/ha it is being matured in 500-liter barrels. It has an intense nose of raspberry preserve, boysenberries and an almost honeyed-like richness that thankfully retains freshness and delineation, when it could have been over-powering. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin, a little grainy in texture, very well-balanced and graceful, gently building to a convincing, quite minerally, blackberry and wild strawberry finish. There is superb terroir expression here, an excellent Larcis-Ducasse that should offer 3-4 decades of drinking pleasure.

Extrem dichte Farbe, fast Schwarz.

Chateau Clos Fourtet 2012 Saint Emilion Magnum
95 Parker Punkte
Robert M. Parker, jr. March 2015:

Having just had the 2003 and 2005 from my cellar, I can attest to the magnificent turnaround in quality this famous estate on the eastern side of St.-Emilion has achieved. All of it is attributable to its dynamic proprietor, Philippe Cuvelier. The 2012 Clos Fourtet (usually 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc) has beautiful blackberry and blueberry fruit and an inky purple color. With flawless integration of acidity, tannin, wood and alcohol, a full-bodied mouthfeel and stunning richness, this is impressive and certainly one of the vintage's top wines. It should evolve beautifully for 15-20 years, and be drinkable in 3-4. Yields were a modest 32 hectoliters per hectare with the alcohol at 14%.

James Suckling bewertet den Chateau Troplong Mondot 2015 wie folgt:

A luscious and rich red with blackberry, chocolate and walnut aromas and flavors. FUll body, very harmonious and super bright. All about clarity. A majority of merlot with some cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc.

Wine Enthusiast bewertet den Chateau Troplong Mondot 2015 wie folgt:
Rich and smooth, this is a powerful and concentrated wine. The wine is perfumed and fragrant, with fine dusty tannins and a fresh edge that provides a nice lift to the finish.

The 2015 Virginie de Valandraud is matured in 100% new oak, according to Jean-Luc Thunevin. It has an intense, quite powerful bouquet with red cherries intermingling with blueberry and candied orange peel. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a "juicy" Virginie with plenty of puppy fat, but the oak feels nicely integrated and does not obscure its personality on the silky, sensual finish. Perhaps on reflection, I would have liked, say 80% new oak instead of 100%, but why let figures get in the way of this Saint Émilion that should be enjoyed over the next decade.

Very juicy and engaging, with plum and raspberry notes laced with sweet toast and backed by a red licorice edge. Fleshy structure carries the finish. Score range: 89-92

95 Punkte - Flaschenbewertung

There’s gorgeous purity here, with cassis, loganberry and raspberry fruit carried by a lightly brambly feel, giving this more weight
and grip than previous vintages. The chalky thread is there and really extends through the finish but is easily absorbed overall.
Ends with lovely bergamot and rooibos tea notes. Best from 2022 through 2035.—J.M.

A beauty in the making, with gorgeously pure red currant and raspberry fruit, laced with bergamot and incense accents. A very fine chalky thread knits everything beautifully. Shows pristine balance and gorgeous minerality. Tasted non-blind.-J.M.

The aromas of blackcurrants and fresh forest floor are evocative. Oyster shells and stones. Turns to blackcurrants. Medium to full body and firm and silky tannins that are polished and coat your mouth. The palate is ever dense and concentrated. Needs four to five years to open but already a beautiful red.

The 2014 Figeac builds on its promise from barrel and delivers a very fulfilling bouquet with red plum, crushed strawberry, cedar and light graphite aromas that I suspect will close down for a period after bottling. (The bottle tasted at the château displayed a subtle incense aroma.) The palate is very well defined with a crisp line of acidity, sorbet fresh in the mouth and fanning out towards its structured, tensile finish. It is a great Figeac, a superb forerunner to the brilliant 2015 and it should not be underestimated. Chapeau winemaker Frédéric Faye and his team. Tasted twice (both in London and at the property) with consistent notes.

40 % Merlot, 32 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 28 % Cabernet Franc.

Shows cocoa and espresso edges along the core of dark currant and fig fruit, with lots of loamy depth on the finish. Notes of tobacco and warm stone are already emerging, but this will still need some time to muscle into harmony. Best from 2024 through 2037.—J.M..

Chateau Pindefleurs 2015 halbe Flasche 0,375L

Neal Martin bewertet den Chateau Pindefleurs 2015 im April 2016:

The 2015 Château Pindefleurs has a beautiful bouquet, extremely pure and generous with blueberry and blackberry fruit, well integrated oak, hints of violet and rose petal in the background. The palate is fresh and vibrant, the tannins extremely fine and the acidity well judged, lending tension and precision. I love how this flows across the mouth - one of the best Pindefleurs that I have tasted. This comes highly recommended.

Zudem erklärt Neal Martin 12 Weine zu seinen ganz persönlichen Kaufempfehlung:

"While the top names in Bordeaux can be prone to an internecine game of trying to price their wine higher than their competitors to "protect the brand," it remains true that there are hundreds of châteaux that offer outstanding value for money. Here are twelve wines that could represent some of the best values in 2015."

This is another Saint Emilion property that reveled in such a great vintage for the appellation. Refined, elegant and "flowing," this is a just a lovely wine in the making.

Neal Martin bewertet den Chateau Grand Mayne 2015 im April 2016:
The 2015 Grand Mayne has a ripe small, dark cherry and mulberry scented bouquet, very perfumed with cassis scents emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very elegant and poised, part of a new style of Grand Mayne that is much more refined than the vintages of the 1990s and 2000s. In a word, what Jean-Antoine Nony and his team have made here is a "stylish" Saint Emilion.
