Bad Boy 2016 Bordeaux by Jean Luc Thunevin
93-94
88-90 / 100 Parker Punkte
Neal Martin bewertet den Bad Boy 2016 im April 2017:
The 2016 Bad Boy (aka naughty Jean-Luc Thunevin) is a blend 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and the remainder Merlot. It has a fragrant, quite floral bouquet this year with scents of black cherries, incense and a touch of vanilla pod. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, fresh in the mouth with a citrus line of acidity, slightly granular in texture towards the finish that has good, Médoc-like structure. This is a fine follow-up to the 2015 Bad Boy.

93-94 Punkte Suckling | Bad Boy 2016 Bordeaux by Jean Luc ThunevinJames Suckling bewertet den Bad Boy April 2017:

Impressive depth of fruit and power to this wine with blackberry, blueberry and violet character. Full body, brilliant acidity and a firm and silky finish. Fantastic. Better than the 2015.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Dalem (blended of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc) leaps from the glass with notions of warm black cherries, chocolate mint and baked black plums plus hints of star anise, garrigue and cedar chest. Full-bodied yet possessing fantastic freshness and harmony on the palate, it has wonderfully vibrant fruit and a ripe, grainy frame, finishing with a compelling lift.

Chateau d Escurac 2014 Medoc Cru Bourgeois

A juicy wine with chocolate, almond and plum character. Medium to full body, chewy and velvety tannins and flavorful finish. Serious for the appellation. A little austere now but will be better in 2020.

Joanin Becot 2015 mit 89 Parker Punkten ausgezeichnetLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Joanin Becot 2015 am 21.02.2018 wie folgt:

The 2015 Joanin Becot is blended of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, aged on the lees in 60% new and 40% one-year-old barrels for 16 months. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, it opens with crushed red cherries and black raspberries on the nose with nuances of underbrush and bay leaves. The mouth is full, rich and a little rustic with firm, chewy tannins and a long, earthy finish.

Chateau Joanin Becot 2015 Cotes de CastillonOn the toasty side, with flashes of vanilla and mocha, but there's ample fleshy plum sauce and currant preserve flavors at the core, along with lingering notes of anise and violet on the finish. Best from 2019 through 2025. 4,750 cases made.

Neal Martin März 2017:
The 2014 Charmail has a ripe, quite opulent (for the vintage) bouquet with raspberry, crushed strawberry and melted tar scents. There is great precision here. The palate is medium-bodied with plush, supple tannin, cloaked in blackberry and raspberry fruit, brown spices and a pleasant chewiness towards the finish. Maybe a little rustic compared to its peers, but I think this will age extremely well.

The 2014 Citran has an attractive bouquet with hints of espresso complementing the black fruit. I appreciate the energy here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, good weight in the mouth and well judged acidity lending tension from start to finish. Citran can often make very attractive Bordeaux, and their 2014 is one of them. Nothing spectacular, just good trustworthy Claret. Tasted twice with consistent notes.

Neal Martin 28 Oktober 2016:
The 2014 Senejac has a withdrawn but well defined bouquet with more undergrowth aromas than many of its peers, unreservedly classic in style (and there is nothing wrong with that). The palate is medium-bodied with a ripe blackberry and boysenberry on the entry, a slight tinniness on the back palate with a very tightly wound finish. This clearly needs 4-5 years in bottle but it has the matière to repay those with patience. Tasted September 2016.

Neal Martin April 2015 Fassprobe:
The Château Sénéjac 2014 has a fresh, lively bouquet, those energetic blackberry and boysenberry fruit leaping from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied and tones it down a little. But there is commendable energy here, well-judged acidity and plenty of blackberry and raspberry fruit on the finish that linger long in the mouth. This comes recommended.

Robert Parker April 2015
Once again proprietor Jean Gautreau has hit pay dirt with a beautiful blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Wonderfully sweet, ripe tannins seem to be a rule of thumb from this great terroir just to the north of St.-Estèphe’s Château Montrose. A beautiful deep ruby/purple color, decent acidity, medium to full-bodied mouthfeel and stunning fruit put this wine right in the midst of the best classified crus from the Médoc, yet it has never been classified. Go figure. Softer than I would have suspected (and I’ve been following and buying this wine since the mid-1970s), this wine will still age beautifully for 10-15+ years.

Chateau Sociando Mallet 2014 Haut Medoc

Already on the nose there’s another level of complexity and sophistication to the other wines from this appellation. The 2014 Belgrave, which has been owned by Dourthe since 1979, has a backward, cedar and woodland-scented bouquet with hints of cold stone percolating through the black fruit with time. 66 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 32 % Merlot, 2 % Petit Verdot.

The 2015 Poujeaux is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. It has a high-toned, floral bouquet with kirsch and raspberry coulis notes, opulent for this Moulis, but it manages to retain control. The palate is chewy on the entry with mouth-coating tannin, solid in the mouth, brutish at the moment, although the finish does show satisfactory freshness, and is long and minerally. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois annual tasting, the 2015 Fonreaud offers impressive, engaging blackberry and briary scents on the nose, well defined and focused with just a slight reduction that works in its favor.

Aromas of impeccably ripe cassis, blackberries and dark cherries. Very fruit-focused nose. The palate has a suave array of layered tannins that carry dark-cherry and blueberry flavors. Really pure wine.

Try from 2020.

Very pretty aromas of perfume, currants and orange peel follow through to a full body, round and chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Solid and structured. Give it two years to soften. Better in 2020.
