Barossa Valley

Weinregion Barossa Valley:

The Standish 2016 Single Vineyard Shiraz Barossa Valley
NEU
99

Sourced from the Standish Family Vineyard – Siegersdorf Road, Vine Vale, Barossa Valley. Planted on own roots in 1912 (7.6 Hectares – 12ft x 10ft spacing). Fine white sand over deep heavy red clay at 302m above sea level.

Dense, latent and strapping, this flaunts the flawless purity that can be leached from the famed sandy flints of Vine Vale. Tightly wound with its cards close to the vest, deep-set aromatics of coal, pressed currant and black truffle are foiled by redolent tones of tilled soil, beef broth and slow roasted meats. Dark and brooding with immense concentration, persistence and energy it is somewhat of a heroic style but is gently laced with a long fine cloak of silken tannin. More reticent than its stable mate, it shows wonderful staying power for those with immense patience and cool, dark cellars.

99 Parker Punkte für den The Standish 2016 Single Vineyard Shiraz Barossa ValleyJoe Czerwinski im August 2018:

Dan's 2016 The Standish Shiraz comes from a vineyard in the Greenock subregion. It's inky in color, loaded with plum, blueberry and raspberry fruit. Full-bodied, creamy-textured and rich, it's intense, concentrated and long beyond belief, picking up hints of licorice along the way. Nearly embryonic, it will need at least a couple of years to show more than the primary fruit.

I consider Dan Standish the reigning king of Barossa Shiraz. On a conference-room table at Peter Lehmann, surrounded by other top-quality wines, his 2016s completely bowled me over for their intensity, complexity and harmony. And, according to Standish, 2016 was an easy vintage. One-and-a-half inches of rain in January slowed down the ripening until harvest could take place under slightly cooler conditions. "We had tiny berries, we had to do nothing in the vineyards," he said. Sourced from single old-vine plantings in the subregions of Ebenezer, Marananga, Greenock and Hutton Vale, this is a prodigious collection of wines, meticulously produced in tiny quantities from old vines and low yields.

99 Parker Punkte für den Standish The Relic 2016 Shiraz ViognierJoe Czerwinski im August 2018:

Everything about Standish's 2016 The Relic Shiraz-Viognier is remarkable, starting with the ridiculous color. It's so dark, so purple, so vibrant. Then the nose boasts soaring florals and stone fruits, while the palate delivers fresh blueberries and dried spices. It's full-bodied but creamy-textured, with supple tannins and concentrated fruit that lingers on the plush finish. Just awesome stuff.

98 Punkte Robert Parker für den Standish The Schubert Theorem 2016Joe Czerwinski im August 2018:

From a Marananga vineyard, Standish's 2016 The Schubert Theorem Shiraz is even darker hued than The Relic. Blueberries, licorice and violets appear on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is rich and creamy-textured, growing more tannic and savory on the nearly endless finish. Monolithic and young, give this at least a couple of years to become more approachable.

John Duval Eligo Shiraz 2013 Barossa Valley
98+

98+ Parker Punkte
Lisa Perrotti Brown 30.06.2016

Very deep purple-black in color, the 2013 Eligo has an intoxicating nose of creme de cassis, blueberry tart and violets with underlying menthol, cloves, fenugreek, licorice and dark chocolate hints. The medium to full-bodied palate is youthfully restrained, with taut, muscular blackberry and exotic spice flavors supported by fine-grained, firm tannins and lively acid, finishing with excellent length. This is a very classy 2013 Shiraz!

Herkunft:

Glaetzer Wallace 2016 Shiraz Grenache Barossa Valley

Glaetzer Wallace 2016 Shiraz Grenache Barossa ValleyJoe Czerwinski bewertet den Wallace 2016 am 31.08.2018 wie folgt:

The 2016 Wallace Shiraz-Grenache is the same 78/22 blend that the past two vintages have been, but it seems a touch darker and richer on the nose and palate, if perhaps a little less complex and nuanced. It's still a solid mouthful of bold Barossa fruit, leaning toward black cherries in this vintage, with a slightly creamy mouthfeel and a long, supple finish.

Glaetzer Bishop Shiraz 2016 Barossa ValleyJoe Czerwinski bewertet den Bishop 2016 am 31.08.2018 wie folgt:

Even better than the 2015, Glaetzer's 2016 Bishop Shiraz is very similar in style, with many of the same notes of charred meat, espresso, black olives and blackberries, but with a greater sense of freshness and vitality, even a touch of red raspberry fruit. It's full-bodied and supple, turning velvety on the long finish. I'm being conservative in estimating its drinking window, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were still going strong in 2030.

95 Punkte James Halliday

James Halliday - Published on 26 Jul 2014:
Youthful crimson-purple; a shiraz cabernet blend that has awesome depth, yet is not the least extractive, and carries the burden of its alcohol very well. Satsuma plum and sundry spice-poached black fruits, licorice and oak all join the flavour queue, tannins the finishing line.

Glaetzer Anaperenna 2012 Barossa Valley

A blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, the deep garnet-purple colored 2012 Anaperenna is profoundly scented of creme de cassis, blueberry compote and black cherry pie with hints of aniseed, pepper, chargrilled meat and underbrush. Big, full-bodied and voluptuous on the palate, the generous blend of blackberry and meaty, savory flavors is structured by a solid backbone of firm, grainy tannins and refreshing acid through the very long finish. Drink it now to 2024+.

Glaetzer Anaperenna 2010 Barossa Valley

A Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon blend, the 2010 Anaperenna has a deep purple-black color and aromas of warm black cherry compote and creme de cassis over hints of smoked meat, earth, Indian spices, truffles and damp loam. Rich and opulent on the full bodied palate, the generous fruit is well supported by a medium to firm level of fine tannins and refreshing acid, finishing long and earthy. Still youthful and a little taut, it should drink best 2014 to 2022+.

Teusner The Independent 2016 Shiraz Mataro Barossa Valley
Weinbeschreibung:
