JG 2010 endlich verfügbar ganz ganz groß !!! als 2009er - 93 Parker Punkte 18er Paket Frei Haus - 250 € Liter 18,52€ Parker Verkostungsnotiz: the 2009 Quintessence, which has just been released. This is a serious wine on its own, and certainly capable of lasting a decade or more, but the vintage quality of 2010 has produced remarkable fruit, with the best concentration and purity of fruit that I have seen in the southern Rhone since 2007, which remains the single greatest vintage I have ever tasted from that region. This blend of 80% Syrah and 20% Grenache, aged in barrels for 12 months (40% new and 60% two years old) and bottled unfined and unfiltered, has a dense purple color and deep licorice, graphite, black currant and black cherry notes with hints of earth and spice as well as some pepper and meat juice in a dense, medium to full-bodied, slightly more tannic style than the 2010 Terrasses. To reiterate, it should last for at least a decade. 250,00 EUR incl. 19 % UST exkl. 18,52 EUR pro Liter

Over the price limit for this article, but still meriting a comment is the newest custom cuvee assembled for importer Eric Solomon, the 2006 Artemia. A blend of equal parts Grenache and Syrah aged in 225-liter casks, it is produced from the estate’s oldest vines as well as lowest yields (15-25 hectoliters per hectare). A creamy-styled wine exhibiting a dense purple color, sweet blackberry, boysenberry, licorice, pepper, and earth-like aromas, and a lush, sexy, sensual personality, it is a hedonistic tour de force to enjoy over the next 4-5 years.

Composed of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre, the 2010 Vacqueyras reveals an opaque, almost black color along with notes of smoke-infused black cherry and black raspberry fruit intermixed with notions of forest floor and lavender. Intense and full-bodied with terrific texture, purity and length, it should drink well for 8-10 years. 12,95 EUR incl. 19 % UST exkl. 17,27 EUR pro Liter
The real winners here, the two cuvees of Cotes du Rhone, would both benefit from another 1-2 years of bottle age ... they are that intense and impressive. The 2010 Cotes du Rhone Le Bouveau (80% Syrah and 20% Cinsault) reveals a black/purple color as well as loads of creme de cassis, blackberry, incense and white flower characteristics. Rich and full-bodied with moderate tannin, this sleeper of the vintage should drink well for a decade or more. 7,50 EUR incl. 19 % UST exkl. 10,00 EUR pro Liter
The top cuvee is the 2009 Gigondas Les Souteyrades, which also comes from 60+-year-old vines and is a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre. Again, it is all aged in old wood foudres and bottled unfined and unfiltered. This wine plays it closer to the vest, and one can see that there is a level of density and richness that might eclipse the other two wines, but there is also more tannin and a striking near-liqueur of minerals in this wine. It is very reserved and restrained, but super-concentrated, full-bodied, and incredibly impressive, with much of the character of the La Louisiane but tighter. It may have more up-side potential that any of these wines, but will probably need 1-3 years of bottle-age and then drink well for at least 15 years. 17,90 EUR incl. 19 % UST exkl. 23,87 EUR pro Liter
The real winners here, the two cuvees of Cotes du Rhone, would both benefit from another 1-2 years of bottle age ... they are that intense and impressive. Composed of 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre and the rest Syrah and Carignan (from 50-60 year old vines planted just outside the appellation of Gigondas), the backward 2010 Cotes du Rhone Vieilles Vignes possesses a dense purple color as well as an extremely powerful and concentrated style. This Cotes du Rhone has awesome potential, but it not ready for prime time drinking. It offers inky blue and black fruits intermixed with notions of creosote, garrigue and pepper backed up by powerful tannins and great acids. Forget it for two years and drink it over the following decade. 9,90 EUR incl. 19 % UST exkl. 13,20 EUR pro Liter
The 2009 Gigondas La Louisiane, which is the most powerful of these wines at 15.3% alcohol, comes from 60-year-old vines and is a blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Mourvedre, and the rest tiny percentages of Cinsault and Syrah. Deep ruby/purple with a sensational nose of crushed rock/wet steel interwoven with blueberry liqueur, sweet black currants and black cherries, incense, and forest flora, it seems to be both powerful and elegant at the same time, with stunning purity, texture, and length, but it never comes across as heavy despite the rather lofty alcohol. This wine should drink beautifully for 10-15 years. 17,90 EUR incl. 19 % UST exkl. 23,87 EUR pro Liter
The 2009 Gigondas Vieilles Vignes (a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre from 40-year-old vines) is a rich, full-bodied Gigondas with notes of crushed rock, boysenberry, black raspberry, camphor, and a hint of pen ink. The wine displays terrific fruit on the attack, a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel with good acid, superb purity, texture, and length. This deep ruby/purple-colored wine should drink well for at least 10-15 years. 14,90 EUR incl. 19 % UST exkl. 19,87 EUR pro Liter
92-94 Parker Punkte Robert Parker schreibt: A superb offering, the 2010 Gigondas Tradition Les Grands Montmirail reveals a more saturated purple color as well as more concentration, definition and precision. It is a refreshing, vibrant, full-bodied wine to drink over the next 12-15 years. 15,95 EUR incl. 19 % UST exkl. 21,27 EUR pro Liter
Three other offerings that merit attention from thrifty consumers include the 2009 Cotes du Rhone Laurent B. This wine displays loads of garrigue, pepper, roasted herbs, barbecue smoke, and red and black currants in a medium-bodied, elegant style. Drink it over the next 2-3 years. 6,95 EUR incl. 19 % UST exkl. 9,27 EUR pro Liter
Kandidat für den Wein des Jahrgangs - für Gigondas !!!
92-95+ Parker Punkte Robert Parker schreibt: Absolutely spectacular, and one of the candidates for wine of the vintage in Gigondas, the 2010 Gigondas Les Hauts de Montmirail boasts beautifully integrated oak along with luxurious richness, and a dense, creme de cassis, kirsch and blackberry-scented nose with subtle smoke and burning embers in the background. Deep and full-bodied with good acidity and moderately high tannins, this opaque purple-colored 2010 requires 3-4 years of cellaring and should keep for 12-15+ years. 25,90 EUR incl. 19 % UST exkl. 34,53 EUR pro Liter
A prodigious effort, the 2009 Lirac Clos de Sixte blows away the 2008. This dense purple-colored wine offers up notes of black truffles, charcoal, blackberries, kirsch, garrigue, new saddle leather, herbs de Provence, spice box, and smoke. It possesses great fruit, full-bodied power, excellent depth, and abundant silky tannins. Drink it over the next 6-8 years. 12,90 EUR incl. 19 % UST exkl. 17,20 EUR pro Liter
The 2009 Cotes du Rhone Reserve (an identical blend) is soft, ripe, peppery, fruity, opaque ruby in color, with a more narrow palate.
Great bargains continue to emerge from Domaine Grand Veneur as well as from their negociant arm of the business, labeled Alain Jaume. 6,90 EUR incl. 19 % UST exkl. 9,20 EUR pro Liter
The 2009 Gigondas Terrasses de Montmirail exhibits a dark ruby color, lots of minerality, notions of blueberries and red currants, good acidity and 10 years of drinkability.
Parker Verkostungsnotiz für den 2007er (91 Punkte) : The deep ruby/purple-colored 2007 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Rasteau Les Valats displays the chocolatey side of Grenache along with aromas and flavors of scorched earth, black fruits, and earth. This masculine, classic Rasteau should age nicely for a decade. 9,80 EUR incl. 19 % UST exkl. 13,07 EUR pro Liter
The 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape (a 3,500-case blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre from nearly 70 year old vines) exhibits abundant notes of sweet cassis, licorice, kirsch, garrigue and tobacco leaf in a full-bodied, layered, opulently textured style. This hedonistic turn-on should continue to drink well for a decade or more.
Weinlakai - Empfehlung !!! 18er Paket Frei Haus !!! 91 Parker Punkte Even better is the sensational 2009 Cotes du Rhone, a blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 10% Carignan and 10% Syrah. Again, the practice of Xavier Vignon is to age all the Grenache and Carignan in tank and the Mourvedre, and occasionally Syrah, in small oak. The classic Cotes du Rhone offers wonderful peppery, black currant, black cherry, tobacco leaf, licorice and spice characteristics, abundant flavor, more body and density than most wines with this humble pedigree, as well as terrific purity and texture. 135,00 EUR incl. 19 % UST exkl. 10,00 EUR pro Liter

90 - 92 Parker Punkte für JG 2007 The two Cairannes, both blends of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% Carignan, display outstanding potential. More raspberry, cherry, earth, spice, pepper, garrigue, and Provencal herb characteristics emerge from the deep ruby/purple-tinged 2007 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Cairanne La Boutine. The 2007 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Rasteau Heritage, fashioned from 100% Grenache (from vines planted in 1924), this offering can compete with some of the finest Grenache-based efforts in Chateauneuf du Pape. Its inky/purple hue is accompanied by an extraordinary perfume of flowers, garrigue, pepper, kirsch, and raspberries. Amazing opulence, a full-bodied, powerful mouthfeel, and a multidimensional, layered finish result in a momentous Rasteau that can be drunk young or cellared for 10-15 years.
